Privacy Policy

Who we are

Prefall is a media and intelligence platform covering the economics of the fashion industry. We are operated by Ana Maria Claros and based in the European Union. You can reach us at contact@pre-fall.com.

What data we collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the platform. When you subscribe to the newsletter or unlock the jobs board, we store your email address and, optionally, the name you provide. When you contact us through the site form, we store your name, email, and message.

If you accept analytics cookies through our consent banner, we also collect anonymous usage data: which pages you read, how far you scroll, which links you click. This data is never used to identify you individually and is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing.

We do not collect payment data, precise location data, or any sensitive personal information.

How we use your data

We use your email to send you the Prefall newsletter (if you subscribed), to deliver the weekly jobs digest (if you unlocked the jobs board), and to respond when you contact us. Each email contains a one-click unsubscribe link.

We use aggregate analytics, when you have granted consent, to understand which pieces are being read and how readers move through the platform. This helps us decide what to publish next. We never use analytics to track individual readers.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Cookies and tracking

Prefall uses two categories of cookies: essential and optional.

Essential cookies operate the site and cannot be turned off. They include your consent choice (so we do not ask you again on every page), your jobs-board unlock session (if you have subscribed and confirmed), and a per-device opt-out cookie if you choose not to be tracked at all.

Optional analytics cookies are off by default and only activated when you click "Accept analytics" in the cookie banner. They power four tools: Vercel Web Analytics (privacy-light page-view counter, no cookies of its own), Google Analytics 4 (sessions, sources, content performance), Google Tag Manager (the orchestrator that loads the others), and Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps and session recordings to understand how the site is read).

You can change your choice at any time by clicking "Cookie preferences" in the footer of every page.

Newsletter and email

The Prefall newsletter is delivered through Resend, our transactional email provider. Your subscriber record (email, optional name, signup date, confirmation status) is stored in our own Sanity database hosted in the European Union. Resend processes the actual email send and may store delivery metadata such as opens and clicks.

New subscriptions require double opt-in: after you submit your email, you receive a confirmation link. Until you click it, no future emails are sent. Every newsletter and digest email carries a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer; clicking it stops future sends immediately.

Data retention

Subscriber records are retained until you unsubscribe. After unsubscribing, your record is marked as unsubscribed and kept only for suppression — so we do not accidentally send you anything again — and is otherwise inactive.

Contact form messages are retained for 12 months and then deleted.

Analytics data is retained according to each provider's default: Google Analytics 4 keeps user-level data for 14 months by default; Microsoft Clarity keeps session recordings for 30 days; Vercel Web Analytics keeps aggregated counts only.

Your rights

Under GDPR and applicable data protection law, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you, to object to processing, to receive a copy of your data, and to withdraw consent at any time.

Third-party processors

Prefall relies on a small set of third-party services to operate. Each one only receives the minimum data needed to do its job.

Vercel hosts the website and edge functions (EU edge nodes). Sanity stores all content and subscriber data (EU dataset). Resend sends the newsletter and confirmation emails. Google (Analytics 4 + Tag Manager) and Microsoft (Clarity) provide optional analytics that only run if you grant consent.

Each provider has its own privacy policy; we recommend reviewing them if you want to understand their practices in detail.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be communicated via the newsletter to confirmed subscribers, and the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
